The Timbers secured their fifth consecutive win with a 3-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes. After a scoreless first half on a wet night at Providence Park, Jaroslaw Niezgoda put in a header off a Diego Chara cross in the 46th minute to put the Timbers up 1-0. Six minutes later, Niezgoda got his second when he knocked home a loose ball that couldn’t be controlled by San Jose goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski to give the Timbers a 2-0 lead.
Just before end end of the match, Felipe Mora headed home a Diego Chara cross for the final goal in a 3-0 Timbers win.
With the win, the Timbers are now level with Seattle at the top of the Western Conference.
