The Timbers earned their first point in Saturday in a 1-1 draw on the road against the Revolution. After New England took a 22nd minute lead on a goal by Stephen McCarthy, the Timbers leveled 16 minutes later on a goal by Jack Jewsbury. The Timbers captain scored from the top of the box off a pass from Jeremy Hall, who held off two defenders with his back to goal.
The Timbers controlled much of the run of play, and came within inches of winning the match 20 minutes from time when Kalif Alhassan hit the left post on a free kick, but the Timbers finish the week with a win in the US Open Cup and a road draw as they prepare for their home opener against Chicago on April 14.
