The Timbers announced today that the next round of the US Open Cup will be in Portland on Tuesday, May 3. The San Jose Earthquakes had the right to host the match, but not finding a suitable venue, decided to give up that right to the Timbers.
The USL Timbers played the Earthquakes in the US Open Cup twice, losing in the fourth round on August 3, 2005, with the Earthquakes winning 2-0 at PGE Park, and also losing 3-0 to the Earthquakes 3-0 at PGE Park on July 14, 2004.
