The Timbers were on the road in Los Angeles to take on David Beckham, Landon Donovan, and the Los Angeles Galaxy. Unfortunately, the Timbers could not continue the momentum from their two home wins last week, and gave up early goals to Chad Barrett and Landon Donovan, the second coming on the first penalty kick the Timbers have faced in their MLS history, and though they had several good chances to pull a goal back, especially on a header by Mamadou Danso late in the first half, Galaxy goalkeepr Donovan Ricketts had several spectacular saves that kept the Timbers off the board.
After the Galaxy widened the lead to 3-0 on a Donovan header, the Timbers had two great late chances by Kenny Cooper, the first kept out by a spectacular diving save, the second on a foot save on a point blank shot, and it just wasn’t meant to be as the Timbers are shut out for the second time this season (both on the road), and have their four game unbeaten streak in all matches (including a US Open Cup victory) snapped.
