The Portland Timbers made some roster moves this week, all involving forwards.
On Monday, the Timbers announced they had acquired Sebastián Rincón on loan from Uruguayan first-division side Club Atlético Atenas for the 2012 season. Rincón had played for the Timbers reserves against San Jose on March 27, and also played for the Timbers against Chivas.

On Friday there were two roster moves, with another forward being added to the roster when the Timbers acquired Mike Fucito from Montreal, in exchange for a 2013 SuperDraft pick or international roster slot.

Later in the day, the Timbers also announced something Timbers fans had feared might be inevitable, as forward Eddie Johnson announced his retirement. The 27 year old striker had been signed to the USL Timbers squad (though he stayed with Austin on loan that year). Johnson was forced to retire because of a series of concussions over the past year after appearing in seven matches, scoring against Toronto in a league match last year, as well as in an exhibition against West Brom.
