The Timbers reserves, who start their 2012 season with three straight road matches, have now secured shutout victories in their past two matches with a 3-0 win in Vancouver on Sunday afternoon.
The reserves faced the Vancouver Whitecaps reserve team at Swangard Stadium, which was the site of many exciting Timbers-Whitecaps matches during the USL era. Brent Richards scored for the Timbers just before halftime, and Franck Songo’o and Bright Dike scored in the second half for the 3-0 final.
Brian Rowe had five saves in goal for the shutout. Brad Knighton was in goal for the Whitecaps, who played for the Timbers for a part of the 2008 season.
