Timbers draw another blank in Houston

The Portland Timbers seem to have solved many of their defensive problems, shutting out 3 of their past 4 opponents, and only allowing a single non-penalty goal.  But the Timbers have truly hit the skids offensively, with no offensive goals in their past 437 minutes of play, since a 23rd minute goal in Los Angeles on April 14, and only a single own goal vs. Sporting Kansas City since.

The Timbers defense did hold tough though, facing 17 shots from the Dynamo, and enduring a final good chance in the 87th minute when Calen Carr slipping in alone, but Troy Perkins charged off his line and was able to cut down the angle and deflect the shot over the crossbar.

The Timbers were also hit with the injury bug which seems to be catching up with them this year, with captain Jack Jewsbury leaving with a potential hip injury, and recently returned Mamadou Danso appearing to suffer a leg injury late in the match, though he stayed in as the Timbers had no substitutes left.
