Timbers drop season opener 2-1 at LA Galaxy

The Portland Timbers opened up the 2018 regular season, their first under new manager Giovanni Savarese, with a 2-1 loss as Los Angeles would get two first half goals two minutes apart from Ola Kamara and Romain Alessandrini. The Timbers would look better in the second half, and pulled within a goal in the 66th minute on Sebastian Blanco’s goal through the legs of LA goalkeeper David Bingham, but the Timbers would never find the equalizer and began their first of five road games to start the 2018 season with a 2-1 loss.
