The Portland Timbers rallied from a 1-0 first half deficit, first on a Sebastián Blanco goal just before the half, then on second half goals by Diego Valeri and Andy Polo to secure a 3-1 win over NYCFC and a spot in the MLS Is Back Tournament Semifinal. Jesús Medina had the first half penalty kick goal for NYCFC.
The Timbers now face the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, August 5 at 5:00 pm Pacific. On the other side of the bracket, Orlando faces Minnesota on Thursday at 5:00 pm.
