Timbers sweep MLS Is Back awards

After winning the title match in the recent MLS Is Back tournament in Orlando, the Timbers have swept all three of the individual awards named so far, as well as placing four players on the Best XI of the tournament.

Timbers midfielder Sebastián Blanco, who had three goals and five assists during the Timbers run to the MLS Is Back Championship, earned 40.86% of the Player of the Tournament vote, just beating our Orlando City’s Nani who had 37.54%.

Timbers goalkeeper Steve Clark earned the title of MLS Is Back Save of the Tournament for his double save on the LA Galaxy’s Chicharito’s 13th minute penalty kick in the first match of the tournament.

Also, Timbers midfielder Andy Polo earned MLS Is Back Goal of the Tournament for his 76th minute strike against NYCFC in the Timbers 3-1 win in the quarterfinal.

In addition, the MLS Is Back Tournament Best XI was announced, with four Timbers players earning the honor.  Forward Jeremy Ebobisse, midfilders Sebastián Blanco and Diego Chará, and defender Larrys Mabiala were all named to the tournament’s list of best players.
