Cascadia Cup to be awarded this year. Seattle game moved to 7 pm.

The Cascadia Cup, the yearly competition between the Timbers, the Seattle Sounders, and Vancouver Whitecaps was awarded every year (Seattle did not take part in 2009 and 2010) starting in 2004 until the 2020 season, when the lack of fans at the matches made Cascadia Cup Council decide not to award it last year.

But the council has decided that with fans now being back at Timbers and Sounders games at full capacity, and the Whitecaps set to return to BC Place with fans in the stands by the end of August, the Cascadia Cup will be awarded this year, with the six remaining matches on the 2021 schedule between the clubs being used to decide this year’s Cup.  Each team will play the other team twice, hosting a single match, for a very balanced competition this year.

The two matches already played between the clubs (5/9 – Seattle @ Portland, 6/26 – Vancouver @ Seattle) will not be counted.

  • 8/15 – Seattle @ Portland
  • 8/29 – Portland @ Seattle
  • 9/10 – Portland @ Vancouver
  • 10/9 – Vancouver @ Seattle
  • 10/20 – Vancouver @ Portland
  • 11/7 – Seattle @ Vancouver
