Timbers fall to Austin, again, by a 3-1 score this time

It’s getting more difficult to write about the Timbers this year, especially after some of their recent performance. The 1-1 draw in Kansas City was respectable, but the Timbers fell apart in Austin again, similar to their 4-1 loss there on July 1. Oh did I mention Austin is an expansion team, and until tonight, was in last place in the Western Conference?

The game started well… I am just kidding.  30 minutes into the game and the Timbers were down 3-0 on goals by Cecilio Domínguez, Diego Fagundez, and Sebastián Driussi.  Did I mention Austin is an expansion team this year?  Did I also mention they have only scored 17 goals in 20 games, and seven of those are against us?

Dairon Asprilla got the Timbers on the board in the second half, but it was too little too late, and once again, the Timbers find themselves losing a multi-goal game, this time by a 3-1 score in Austin.

The season feels beyond recovery at this point.  We’ll see.
