The Portland Timbers have hit a horrible offensive slump, not scoring since winning 3-2 vs. Vancouver, and now have been shut out in 3 straight matches, the latest being a 1-0 loss on the road to the Colorado Rapids. Diego Rubio opened the scoring for the Rapids in the 30th minute on a free kick from just outside the penalty box, while Mark-Anthony Kaye added another goal deep in stoppage time. The Timbers played the final 27 minutes of regulation plus seven minutes of stoppage time with a man advantage, but could not take advantage.
It’s the first time the Timbers have been shut out in three straight matches since September 15-22, 2019.
