Timbers fall 3-2 on the road in San Jose

The Portland Timbers would lose an early lead, then rally from a goal down to tie the score, but then give up a late goal and lose 3-2 on the road vs. the San Jose Earthquakes.  Cristhian Paredes and Bill Tuiloma would have the Timbers goals, both off corner kicks, while Jackson Yueill would score and Jamiro Monteiro scored twice for the Earthquakes.

The Timbers would take the lead in the 18th minute when a Marvin Loría cross after a corner kick was met by a header from Cristhian Paredes and the Timbers had a 1-0 lead.  But the hosts would tie it in the 31st minute when a cross from former Timber Jeremy Ebobisse was met by a strong diving header by Jackson Yueill that would level the score at 1-1.

Just before the half, San Jose would take the lead when Jamiro Monteiro would have a one-touch finish on a breakaway that would beat goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič and the score would be 2-1 at the break.

But in the 56th minute the Timbers would tie the score when a corner from Eryk Williamson was met by the head of Bill Tuiloma, who found this way through the San Jose marking to score and level the score at 2-2.

Then in the 80th minute, Monteiro would run onto a loose ball in the Timbers box and finish easily for the 3-2 Earthquakes lead.
