The Portland Timbers entered Saturday night’s match on a six-game unbeaten run, and extended it to seven with a comeback 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes. After Benjamin Kikanović put the visitors into the lead in the 42nd minute, the Timbers tied it in the 53rd minute when a shot deflected off Jaroslaw Niezgoda for a “lucky” goal that leveled the score at 1-1. Then in the 71st minute, Dairon Asprilla‘s nice header put the Timbers in the lead and they held on for the 2-1 win.
