Timbers fall to Sporting Kansas City by 4-1 score

The Portland Timbers have likely hit their low point of the 2022 season, falling 4-1 to Sporting Kansas City on Sunday afternoon.

William Agada would put the hosts in the lead in the 31st minute when a cross rebounded to him open near the far post, and he blasted in a high shot for the 1-0 lead.  Andreu Fontàs and Erik Thommy converted just two minute apart just before the half, and at the break it was 3-0 Kansas City.

The Timbers were unlucky not to score in the second half as they had several good chances, but it would be the hosts that added to their lead in the 75th minute when Agada scored his second.

The Timbers did avoid the shutout when Sebastián Blanco scored in the 90th minute.  With the loss the Timbers are now winless in their last five matches.
