The Timbers had a good performance tonight in a 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes in the first Leagues Cup match of the year for the Timbers. Evander had the first goal for the Timbers while Felipe Mora added another goal late.
The Timbers would break through first in the 33rd minute when Evander found himself open 25 yards out from goal and put a perfect shot into the upper right corner past San Jose goalkeeper Daniel, and the Timbers would hold a 1-0 lead, which would be the score at the break.
In the 49th minute the Timbers came within inchest of widening the lead when Cristhian Paredes had a blast from 20 yards out that was off the crossbar before being cleared.
But the Timbers did get that second goal in the 86th minute when Marvin Loria played a ball into the run of Felipe Mora, who finished past Daniel, and the Timbers had a 2-0 lead.
Neither team would score again, and the Timbers held on for the 2-0 win.
