Santiago Moreno and Felipe Mora would score for the Timbers, along with an own goal by the Galaxy’s Eriq Zavaleta. Zavaleta would score twice for his own team, along with a goal by Douglas Costa.
It only took until the 5th minute for the Timbers to take an early lead, when Dairon Asprilla made a run into the box on the right side, and his low cross found Santiago Moreno just yards from the goal and wide open, and he one-timed the shot into the empty net and the Timbers had a 1-0 lead.
But the Galaxy would not take long to find the equalizer, when in the 10th minute, Eriq Zavaleta got his head on a corner, with his shot beating Timbers goalkeeper David Bingham, and we were level again at 1-1.

But just a few minutes later, in first half stoppage time, the Galaxy would take the lead when the Timbers defense completely fell apart on a free kick by Costa, leaving two Galaxy players wide open right in front of Bingham, and it was Zavaleta would would net his third goal of the night (second for the Galaxy), and the home side now lead 3-2, which would be the score at the half.
Each team would have a few good scoring chances in the second half, but the Timbers would net the only goal, when in the 76th minute, Franck Boli‘s shot at the top of the Galaxy box would be blocked, but Mora was there to jump on the rebound and finished into the upper right corner past a charging Bond, and the score was now 3-3. This would be the final.
